Touch

There exists a portrait of me in the Himalayas in India. I have never been to India, but it’s been a dream of mine for a long time, since my maternal grandmother was from India.

There’s something to be said for having a fraction of a dream come true, simply by knowing that in some small way, you have a presence in a place you have never been.

The travel we are able to do through art, it never seizes to amaze me. The ability that artists have to connect in different ways, through different expressions of art. How strong that force is that we are able to inspire and prompt someone across the world from you to create something.

Art cultivates more art and there are no limits to how far it can spread. What is more important that that? Than the connections that we people create and have between each other all over the world. Even people we’ve never met.

There is now a portrait of me in the Himalayas in India, the artist who drew it, managed to touch me in some way from far far away and now his work finds itself in Norway, on the desk of a writer, and in her heart too.
