Shhh… don’t reveal, excuse or explain
Don’t be ashamed or place any blame
Just do what you wanted to do
Don’t let anyone deter or discourage you
We don’t really need to know
Cause the how, what and why will show
“The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men / Gang aft a-gley.” is taken from “To a Mouse” by Robert Burns and is usually adapted into:
“The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry!”
It probably went awry because they told someone their plan!
Over and over again it’s been documented that if you tell someone your plan, you’re less likely to follow through on said plan. And still we walk around announcing our dreams to anyone who will listen.
Whenever I’m excited about doing something, half of my excitement lies in being able to tell someone about it. And I always do, so maybe that’s why my plans more often than not end up in the box of forgotten things.
All because my mind tricks me into thinking I did something when I didn’t by triggering some pleasure centre. So the sabotageur of your plan isn’t whomever may find your plan foolish and not be supportive. The person doing the sabotaging is actually yourself. This is how I’ve become the Jack of all trades and a master of none. So here I am, and here’s the plan: I’ll tell you the plan if I’ve completed it, and if you haven’t noticed!
